The year-round indoor pool facility is located in the Oak Ridge Civic Center Recreation Building at 1403 Oak Ridge Turnpike. This pool is a seven-lane, 75’x48’, with depths ranging from 3’6" to 10’6" and holds 183,600 gallons. It has a one meter diving board, which is open for public use during public time. The water temperature is normally 81 degrees. The pool is open six days a week throughout the year. The pool schedule varies depending on the season. All the swim teams in the City use this facility.

| Private Party (Indoor Pool) |

| The indoor pool is available for private party rental on Saturday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. There are two lifeguards on duty and you may have up to 50 people in the pool area. The cost for the rental is $82. Food and drinks are not allowed in the pool area. However, you may rent one of our meeting rooms for an extra charge to have the party either before or after the swim time as availability allows. Rental for group usage on a recurring basis is available at the pool.
Classification is determined by primary usage. Users will be classified as follows for the purpose of determining rental rates:

At the indoor pool during this period, swimmers must swim laps. Various lanes are available according to scheduled activities. When all lanes are open swimmers swim two per lane in lanes 1, 2, 6, and 7. Lanes 3, 4, and 5 are open for traffic swimming (more than two per lane).
At the indoor pool during this period, the life line is across the pool, separating the shallow and deep ends. The only flotation devices that are allowed must be attached to the body and are allowed only in the shallow water.
A lap swim session open to swimmers who are fifty-five years old and older, admission is half price during this session.
ORCA (Oak Ridge City Aquatics) swim team is an aquatic recreational workout and swimming activities for children ages 5-18. Swimmers must be able to swim 100 yards unassisted to participate. A swim test will be given the first day. ORCA meets Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Civic center Swimming Pool, from 4PM until 5PM. The fee is $55.00 per swimmer and a non-resident fee of $10.00 if applicable. ORCA follows the school's snow schedule, if school is cancelled, ORCA is cancelled. Registration will be taken at the Civic Center Front Desk on the first day. Swimmers must have a signed release and fees paid to participate. Swimmers who do not meet the swim test will be encouraged to take further lessons and their fee will be refunded. For further information call the Recreation and Parks Department at 425-3450.

Winter Session begins January 5, 2010
The Oak Ridge Recreation and Parks Department begins new water exercise sessions throughout the year. The classes run for six weeks. The afternoon class will meet Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 1PM until 2PM. The evening class will meet Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, from 7:30PM until 8:30PM. An additional session will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9AM until 10AM. (Morning class is not available during the summer months.) All classes will be held at the Civic Center Swimming Pool. The fee is $37.50 for the six week session (may attend mornings, afternoons, and/or evenings) or $3.25 per visit. One time non-resident fees per fiscal year are: Adults - $20.00 and Children - $10.00.

The Oak Ridge Recreation and Parks Department offers American Red Cross swimming classes through out the year as pool time and staffing permit. Participants must be between the ages of 4 - 18 years old. These classes are for swimmers in levels 1-4. To find out more information about requirements for various swimming levels check out our Level Placement Guide. Registration is at the Civic Center Front Desk. One is during Oak Ridge School's Spring Break and the other during the Winter Break. The fee is $125. Successful completion of the class will provide the student with Lifeguarding, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid certification. The course will be taught daily from 9am to 5pm and attendance is mandatory. Students must be 15 years old. Prerequisites include a 300 yard continuous swim using the front crawl and breaststroke with rhythmic breathing and a timed 20 yard swim and recovery of a 10 pound weight. Prerequisites must be met the first day of class. To register students must sign up at the front desk of the Oak Ridge Civic Center with payment in full. Students will then be issued their books and materials. Class size is limited. For more information, call 425-3450. Upcoming Sessions TBA The Oak Ridge Recreation and Parks Department is offers an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor class. The class will meet Monday-Friday from 9am to 5pm. Students must be 16 years old and meet the following pre-requisites: Swim at a level 4 using the following strokes: 25 yards of front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke and sidestroke and 15 yards of the butterfly. Maintain position on back for 1 minute floating in deep water and tread water for 1 minute. Upon successful completion of this course the instructor will be able to teach American Red Cross: Parent and Child Aquatics, Preschool Aquatics, Learn-to-swim Levels 1-6 and Water Safety courses.
